A few weeks ago, Brad and I sat down to start assembling our puzzle - a picture of Veliko Tarnovo in Bulgaria, that will hang in Baby Three's room. We thought it would take several nights of work, but we completed it in just a few hours! We enjoyed thinking about Bulgaria, and where Baby Three may be from. We look forward to not only visiting to adopt Baby Three, but also returning there as a family of 5 someday.
Once the puzzle was assembled, we flipped it over and started to write your names. You, our beloved friends and family who have helped support us emotionally and financially during this journey. We can truly never say thank you enough. Kindness in the way of a donation for a puzzle piece may not seem like much, but to us it's everything. Besides the financial help it will serve as a reminder to Baby Three that he or she has been loved from the start, not only by us, but also by all of you. Thank you, for all of it.
We got the kids involved the next day and they are so exciting to see the finished product (pictures below). To them, it's a physical representation that we are getting closer to Baby Three coming home. While Covid has put us about 6 months behind, we are hopeful that we will expand our family by 2023 if not sooner. I've stopped trying to think through "ideal" timelines because all of this is so out of our control. Even before a global pandemic, the timeline was hard to predict, but now there really is no guidebook. We try to take it in stride, to trust that God's timing is always perfect, and that when Baby Three gets here, it will be the right time.
In the meantime, we are keeping busy! Brad has started learning basic Bulgarian. This is no easy feat as Bulgaria uses the Cyrillic alphabet, but he's making progress. We still have more parenting classes to take before our adoption can be finalized, so we will work that in as we can. I started taking classes to earn a professional designation, so most nights are spent studying for me, but a silver lining of the pandemic is that I have found myself with time on my hands in the evenings.
Oliver and Ellis are doing well and they both love preschool and Kindergarten. Oliver discovered that they serve chocolate milk during lunch and fell in love with school. haha. We are trying to enjoy all the together time we have been having this past year and look forward to the day we are able to meet Baby Three.
