Our puzzle fundraiser is off and running and you collectively have purchased 100 puzzle pieces! Thank you so much. It's very helpful as we just paid a $3500 fee to the agency last week and we will have another $6,600 due in February. We are hoping to sell the rest of our puzzle pieces between now and then. 200 pieces to go!
We have been hard at work meeting all of the home study requirements. Lots of doctor's appointments and paperwork like getting FBI and state clearances, certified copies of birth certificates, our marriage license, getting our passports, etc. On top of that, we are completing 30 hours of parenting classes. Despite already being parents, these classes have been really beneficial, especially in understanding children who have experienced trauma. We have also been reading The Connected Child, which is a wonderful resource for parents who are adopting. Typically, we put the kids to bed between 8-9 pm and spend 2 or 3 hours working on the adoption.
This coming week, our social worker will be coming to the house to interview our kids, make recommendations on the safety of our house and other things we should think about before our new little one comes home.
It's all moving along and by the new year all of our documents should be to the Bulgarian government... and then the waiting begins! Everyone is preparing us for the wait, saying it's the hardest part of the journey. At this point, all the work we are doing right now feels hard, so I would welcome a reduction in effort, but I'm sure they are right.
We will continue to post updates. We have been so blessed by the amount of people willing to participate in our puzzle fundraiser. If you have been waiting, we hope you will participate soon. :)
Hope each of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!
