Here he is! Niko Charles Hemmings. Niko will keep the name his first mother gave him and he adopts Charles as his middle name- named after the Pop Pop he will soon know and love, Chuck.
The day was long and exhausting for all of us. Niko came to us right away and seemed happy to see us! He was a little shy around Brad at first, but they said there are no male caretakers so he is not used to men. They are building a relationship already though.
Poor Niko became extremely carsick on the ride back to Sofia and threw up all over himself and the car seat (And me a little bit.). We had heard this was common, as the kids aren’t used to cars, but we still felt so bad for him. We applied for his passport and then he was finally able to nap for a bit.
There have been highs and lows today, but all of us are figuring each other out. He is sweet and curious and calm and we are looking forward to what tomorrow will hold!
